Fall clean-up generally consists of picking up leaves on the lawn and in the landscape beds.

In most cases, detaching can take care of the problem, but if the excess thatch is extreme, power raking may be necessary. Power raking includes taking a small engine powered rake over the lawn to dig up the thatch, whereas de-thatching is less aggressive. These services are only performed for about a two week window in the spring.

Overseeding after aeration is a very effective way to thicken up your lawn or develop the stubborn areas. Aerating and overseeding are great tools for thickening up newly seeded lawns and to fill in sparse areas.

At the time of each mowing, expect to see our experienced and trained team working efficiently. We mow all grass areas, line trim around all fences, landscape borders, trees and objects, and blow off all clippings from concrete areas.

In addition, we take great care to do the top 10 “little things” better than anyone else.

3. Zero turning with the mowers can cause lawn damage, which is unacceptable. We train our staff how to prevent damage.

4. Scheduled mowing day. We schedule 4-day mowing weeks so we stay on schedule even if we have a rain day.

5. Mowing flexibility. We talk with you ahead of time about your optimal mowing day and allow you to text, call, or email us if you don’t want your lawn mowed because of lack of water or other reasons.

2 Applications: The two applications are applied in the spring (May) and fall (Sept). This plan consists of a broadleaf weed control, fertilizer, and iron. These applications kill dandelions and other broadleaf weeds at a time during the season that is most efficient. If your desire is to keep the main weeds on your property to a minimum, this plan could be sufficient for you. The downside to this plan is that it leaves a 3-month window where weeds can regerminate in your lawn. The fall application will address those weeds that regerminate. If you are concerned about the regermination that can occur between the 2 applications, we can always increase to the 3 application plan.

3 Applications: This is our most popular plan. The three applications are applied in the spring,
mid-summer, and fall. Like the 2 application plan, each one of these applications consists of broadleaf weed control, fertilizer, and iron. This plan adds a mid-summer application that will ensure more uniformed results throughout the season.

4 Applications: The four applications are applied around May 1st, June 15th, Aug 1st, and Sept 15th. This plan is designed for the property owner who is committed to watering and is looking for continuous coverage of our product throughout the growing season. In this plan, our third application has an ingredient geared towards barnyard grass, which is prevalent and treatable at that time of year.

A pre-pay discount of 5%, paid in full by April 15th, is available for the 3 & 4 application plans. Also, if you are dissatisfied with our product, we will stand behind it and reapply an additional application if necessary. Our goal is your satisfaction.

There are several factors that need to be addressed to have a weed-free lawn. In addition to the applications we apply, homeowners will see better results by giving attention to the following:

1. Foundation: Ideally, your topsoil should be at least 6 inches thick under your sod or seeded yard. If you have new construction going on or coming up, you will want to keep an eye on this. A lack of topsoil will cause your lawn to dry out easily.

2. Watering: Lawns need proper watering. As a rule of thumb, longer and deeper waterings are better for your lawn than shorter, more frequent waterings because it allows for better root development. How long and how often you water depends on the age of your lawn, the time of year, the frequency of rain, and other factors. We can visit with you and help with more specific details after a free lawn analysis.

3. Mowing: Grass should be mowed frequently enough so that you are never cutting off more than 1/3 of the length of the grass at one time. Mulching is valuable for your lawn, but only if done properly. If too much grass is mulched back into the lawn, it will lead to thatch problems. Try not to mow your lawn when it is wet. Also try to switch which direction you mow. Make sure your mower blades are sharp so as not to tear the grass. Last, but very important, is don’t cut your lawn too short! This is the most common error we see, and it is a gateway for weed development in your lawn. General rule is 3” height for the grass

4. Addressing Sparse or Stressed Areas: The best defense against weeds is a thick, dense, healthy lawn. Thick lawns generally need some help along the way to become and remain thick. You may find problem spots in your lawn that need to be thickened up or redone completely. See “Aeration and Overseeding” for an excellent way to do this.
