PREPARATION
Do not just sprinkle the seed on top of the ground without any preparation. This method will not be successful or beneficial. In order for your seed to germinate it needs to connect with your soil. By lightly raking up the bare spots of your lawn and removing dead thatch if needed, you can prepare to plant.

PLANTING
You can apply your seed by hand or by using a spreader. After the seed is down you should add a light coat of soil to top-dress the area or lightly rake your seed into the soil.

WATERING
Now that your seed is planted, it is very important that it receive moisture. Ideally you want to do light and frequent waterings while the seed is young. Your soil shouldn’t have puddles, but it also shouldn’t be dry to the touch. For the first few weeks following the seed application the area should be lightly watered 2-3 times daily or as needed depending on weather.

Every lawn is different and may require additional steps in the planting process. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like further instruction on how to plant your grass seed.
